During the week of January 27-31, 2014 we held the school English Week. We had a fun week filled with competitions integrating technology in English. Our competitions for Middle School included:
Picture Bee - Integrating the iPads to the competition students used an app called What Pic? to identify the hidden picture.
Vocabulary Contest - Integrating iPads to the competition the students used and app called Wordmania to identify the common theme in four pictures.
Poetry Recital - Students in 7th - 9th grade chose a poem given by the Department of Education and they had to recite it in front of a panel of judges.
Poetry writing & Recital - Students in 10th - 11th grade viewed a PowerPoint presentation based on the English Week theme, then they had 60min. to write a poem and then recite it in front of a panel of judges.
Video Editing Contest - In this competition students had 90min. to create a video using Movie Maker. They were provided with 22 songs and over 100 pictures.
Oral Fluency - Students in this competition were assigned stories to read in front of a panel of judges. They had to read outloud with the least possible mistakes.
Spelling Bee- This is one of the traditional competitions that students are used to. Each student is given a word that they have to spell.
After a week of competitions we couldn't finish the week without an award ceremony!!!
